Background design-yggdrasil Wip_yggdrasil_by_johnshowes-d623a3tlooking for some critique. this is a blue print for a digital painting so everything can be subject to change.

I like the idea of a forest like kingdom, and it does stand out pretty well. To keep this as it is with out major changes, would simply be adding more detailed in the background. You can make the hills have maybe some mountain range, or an idea that they are trees. It does seem a little strange that only one root is shooting up, perhaps add more to do the same, but do be careful the balance of the pic. another thing you could do is add more ups and downs of the city, and I am unsure of what is in the middle of the city. a lake I think.

yes it is a lake and i had the roots in the background moving up and down but they were so much further away that it wasn't quite as exaggerated. I've taken some in class critique and put some more interesting roots in the color blocking. Tell me what you think.
