Thanks! The textures are actually my least favorite part. XD I wish I'd had more time to work on them.

I struggle with textures and normal maps. I think they will be the death of me Wink This turned out really good! Model looks solid and its fun to look at.

DX inorite! I wrangled with the normals for like 3 weeks. I'm still not satisfied with them. I don't think I'll ever understand how they work. It always just looks blah to me.

Ugh exactly! I downloaded this new program I'm trying, nDo2 I think it's called. They have a free trial for it but the academic version is about $60. I'm trying to decide if its worth it. Its kind of a plug in for photoshop. But even with it I still look at a normal map and its all gibberish :S

I was talking to some guys at cgsociety and they let me know that Maya usually flips the Green channel, which makes your UVs look inverted (this can be fixed in photoshop in the RGB channels by inverting the Green layer). I also noticed that if I don't have mental ray turned on it makes the map look thatched.

@Bobbi: I know >< I'm checking it constantly. I was thinking of maybe starting a texture resource thread or something.

@Sudi: Next time I see you and Bobbi I can give you guys my notes from my texturing classes. I can go over it with you guys if you'd like, but I'm not very good at it yet myself so I don't know how much help I would be. ><

strange, I came by and took a look at this once before, but for some reason coming back a second time, it looks better. I guess it took me a while to appreciate the lighting and texture of this work. it's really nice work. Maybe the cabinets are a little too shiny for my taste, but it's still really good.
