Trying to get a feel for body mechanics so I'm working on something simplistic. A man and a bench. I'm still in blocking mode but have done a couple passes. What does the all knowing forum think?

here's also a vimeo link if you want a closer inspection

Well, I was trying to focus on the mans eyes. I wanted to see if he looks where he's about to go before he goes there, or if he just got up while he was still looking down. It's too small for me to tell though.

Basically, I just want to see why he got up. is it a bus bench and he looks up and see's that his bus came so he stood up? If not, maybe he could look at his watch and see that he needs to be somewhere so he gets up.

He's obviously got something on his mind, and he wants to go do something. But for me there was no "ah-ha!" moment.
If you know what I mean.
It just didn't look like something clicked in his head and he's like "I know what i'll do." then he goes and does it.

My advice to fix that: Maybe at 0:47 he realizes what he wants to do, and you show that by sharply bringing his head up from that tilt. maybe with slightly raised eyebrows. I wouldn't say too much because it looks like something is bothering him. raise them enough to show he knows something, and that he has a plan now, but not enough to look like he's bipolar and just went from extremely bothered to super happy about his sudden idea.

There's a link on the bottom if you want to see it bigger. haha thanks. Going in I knew it didn't really have much of a story. I had the same idea with the watch and bus. I also thought he could be waiting for an interview and when he shoots up he sticks his hand out (like practicing a hand shake) but then I thought "no that wouldn't work, why is he slouched when he should be nervous and uptight?" I also thought I could remedy the scene with him doing something absurd and jolting off camera. I NEED IDEAS MAN!!

Yo Tyrone,

Here are my thoughts:
Your character seems stressed out, which is great. I feel the anxiety of waiting for an interview. To push that, I would have him hold just before he gets up. You know, take a beat with his head down and his hands on his thighs. I would love to see some emotional processing there.

as for the end, I would avoid trying to do something too crazy.... or crazy at all. What would you do at that moment in an interview? If it's something interesting, put it in. If it's something boring, just cut. That is what we would do in film. Cut.

It's really looking good man.
On a mechanical note, the hips are rotating a bit too much at the end. Tone that down.

Keep it up!!
